The Clinical Simulation Area of Miguel Hernández University (ASCUMH) received a visit this morning from Raúl Rodríguez Romeo, CEO and founder of Emulant Solutions, to mark the beginning of a collaboration between the two entities. The meeting was attended by the Area’s technical staff and its academic coordinator, Professor José Manuel Ramos Rincón.

Emulant Solutions is a company located in La Romana (Alicante) that applies its expertise in cinematic special effects to the field of clinical simulation. The company designs realistic overlays that modify the appearance of commercial mannequins and allow for the representation of diverse and non-normative body types.

These coatings help training scenarios better reflect the body diversity present in clinical practice. The realism of a simulator depends both on its technical functions and its ability to represent the people that future healthcare professionals will encounter during their clinical work.

The collaboration will allow Emulant Solutions to test and evaluate its creations on the Gaumard simulators available at ASCUMH. Meanwhile, the Area’s technical staff will expand their training in moulage and other characterization-related procedures through a workshop led by Raúl Rodríguez Romeo.

Moulage encompasses the techniques used to recreate wounds, bruises, injuries , and other clinical signs on simulated patients or mannequins. Its application lends realism to the scenarios and facilitates students’ interpretation of visual findings within a clinical context.

This exchange will connect the development of new materials with real training needs, as well as strengthen technical skills related to scenario preparation. For ASCUMH, this collaboration represents a new avenue for advancing towards more realistic, diverse clinical simulation that closely aligns with clinical practice.
