SEDH 2×11. Peer learning in clinical simulation

This time, the program will be dedicated to peer learning in clinical simulation , through the experience of the Self-Learning Classroom in Clinical Skills , an initiative aimed at second and third year students of the Degree in Medicine at UMH.

During the episode, we’ll learn how this space allows students to voluntarily practice various clinical skills through simulation, deliberate practice, and small groups. One of the key aspects of the project is that the workshops are tutored by upper-level students, who provide close and invaluable support to those beginning their first clinical experiences.

The program will feature María López Brotons , a recent medical graduate from UMH and the first tutor of the Self-Learning Classroom, whose experience led to a final degree project and a scientific publication on clinical skills training based on simulation and peer support. We will also hear from William Zornoza Alfonso , a fourth-year medical student, who initially participated as a student and has now taken up the mantle as a tutor.

In addition, Dr. José Manuel Ramos Rincón , Professor of Clinical Medicine at UMH and the project’s driving force, will share his perspective on the educational value of this initiative. The episode will also include testimonials from students who participated in the workshops this year, including Julia Pérez Riaño, Ignacio Francés, Ángela de la Cruz Martínez Sánchez, Rosabel Almagro, Pablo García Cutillas, and Ana Morote Sandoval.

The episode, presented by Sergio Javaloy Ballestero , a clinical simulation technician, is part of the initiative of the Clinical Simulation Area of the UMH (ASCUMH) to publicize the value of simulation in improving patient safety.
