The Faculty of Medicine at UMH has organized for the beginning of 2024 a course on Clinical Simulation Instruction, which is part of the Training Program in Teaching Innovation and Educational Excellence 2023/2024. It is aimed at the teaching and research staff of UMH.

The course will be in-person, lasting 12 hours, and will take place at the UMH Clinical Simulation Area facilities, located on the first floor of the Severo Ochoa Building on the Sant Joan d’Alacant Campus. The sessions are scheduled for February 29 and March 1, 2024, at the following times: February 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. and March 1 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m. Registration is open, and if the maximum number of participants is exceeded, the order of pre-registration will be considered.

The course’s teaching team consists of Professor Ms. Gracia Adánez Martínez and Professors Mr. José Luis Díaz Agea and Mr. César Leal Costa from the University of Murcia. These professionals have extensive experience in clinical simulation training and will guide participants through a comprehensive program. The contents will cover key aspects such as managing operative work groups, creating a psychologically safe environment, in-depth knowledge of the phases and structure of simulation (including prebriefing, briefing, simulation, and debriefing), and formative and summative evaluation through clinical simulation. Additionally, topics such as structured debriefing and the design of clinical scenarios based on specific learning objectives will be addressed.

The course will also include practical simulation sessions and an introduction to research in clinical simulation. These activities are designed to provide participants with practical, hands-on experience in creating and managing simulated situations, fundamental in modern health professional training.

This training represents an excellent opportunity to delve into simulation-based learning methodologies. It is an integral part of UMH’s course offerings designed to support the continuous professional development of UMH’s teaching and research staff.
