Ultrasound Workshop at ASCUMH: practical training for medical students
Last Monday, March 30, the Clinical Simulation Area of the Miguel Hernández University (ASCUMH) hosted the Ultrasound Workshop organized by the Association of Medical Students of Alicante , a training activity focused on the practical learning of this diagnostic tool that is increasingly present in clinical practice.
The workshop was attended by 20 students and 4 healthcare professionals, who led the various workstations. Lasting four hours, the workshop covered different applications of ultrasound, including vascular examination, neck and thyroid studies, genitourinary ultrasound, and abdominal assessment. This variety allowed participants to become familiar with different clinical contexts and improve their understanding of the technique.
The activity was carried out in three classrooms at ASCUMH, which facilitated organization into small groups and fostered a more personal and participatory learning experience. This hands-on approach is key in clinical simulation, as it allows students to practice skills in a safe environment before applying them in clinical practice.
The workshop was held in collaboration with the Valencian Society of Family and Community Medicine (SoVaMFiC) and ASCUMH, reinforcing the importance of joint work between institutions to promote the training of future health professionals.
