SEDH 2×07. La primera ECOE de Medicina en República Dominicana

Next Monday, March 16, 2026, at 12:30 pm, Radio UMH will broadcast a new episode of Simulating is Human , the podcast dedicated to Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety, co-directed by Professor José Manuel Ramos Rincón and clinical simulation technician Sergio Javaloy Ballestero.

This time, the program takes us to the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) in Santo Domingo, where the first OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) for medical students in the Dominican Republic was held. This pioneering initiative marks a significant step forward in the practical and objective assessment of clinical competencies in the country. During his institutional visit, Professor Ramos gathered testimonials from the key players in this experience: the management team of the School of Medicine , the faculty involved in the organization and evaluation, and the students who participated in this voluntary exam, which was conducted at clinical stations.

The implementation of this OSCE has benefited from the advice of the team from the Miguel Hernández University , following the Dominican coordinator’s previous visit to the UMH’s 6th year Medical OSCE in 2025. In addition, the test has been managed using the free software OpenECOE , developed by the UMH, which has allowed for structuring the evaluation and facilitating the recording of results.

This new episode will offer a close and direct account of how this historic day for UNPHU has been experienced, highlighting the value of international academic collaboration and the role of clinical simulation in improving medical training.

We invite you to tune in to Radio UMH and join us on this sonic journey. Because, as we always remind you, simulation is human . You can listen to the episode live next Monday, March 16, 2026, at 12:30 pm on Radio UMH.
